Slavery: A Global Epidemic

Slavery is not a thing of the past. It is present. Here. Now. In every corner of the world. Millions of individuals are currently living in slavery.

It is the fastest-growing criminal industry in the world, generating over $150 billion USD every year.

Slavery comes in many forms: sex trafficking, of both adults and children; forced marriage; forced labor; bonded labor; involuntary domestic servitude; forced child labor; and child soldiers.

In the end, it all comes down to this: men, women, and children are suffering traumatic and perpetual physical, verbal, and sexual abuse without the option or ability to leave.

They are trapped.

Over 40 million people around the world are suffering in these conditions today. That is more than ever before in human history. 25% of them are children. 75% are women and girls. Some are trafficked in their home countries. Others are moved across borders and even oceans.

Only 1% of victims are ever rescued.

What a terrifying reality. Humanity must do better. And we’re starting to.

Consider this:

“When a lot of people do a little, it adds up and makes a difference.”

-- Christine Caine, A21 Founder

A21 is a non-profit organization with offices in 12 different countries. It is just one of dozens of non-governmental organizations around the world fighting to put an end to the horrific trafficking industry.

Most governments around the world are working to eliminate trafficking too. In fact, over 150 governments are making significant efforts to combat trafficking in their countries.

Anti-trafficking efforts are three-pronged:

Prevention: reducing vulnerability and demand

Rescue: identifying and rescuing victims

Aftercare: caring for and empowering survivors to help them reach their potential

The fight against trafficking is far from over and you can help!

Together, we can make a difference.

Give $20 to the Dressember Foundation today by going to our Advocacy team page.

Your gift will provide 1 survivor with an aftercare kit to help them feel loved and cared for as they transition from a life of abusive exploitation to a life of freedom.
